Most people would prefer to do almost anything other than raking leaves from a lawn. However, this is a very important part of any lawn care routine. Extensive leaf cover on grass can eventually suffocate grass and can be a home for any number of insects and pests. Except for completely removing trees from your property, which is probably not the best idea, there aren’t many ways to get around raking your leaves. But, here are some suggestions that might get you closer to that goal.

Invest in some new lawn equipment. For instance, you might try using a leafblower instead of a rake – a simple, but effective solution. Or, you could see if there is a mulching function or attachment for your lawnmower. Once the leaves are dry and crunchy, it’s often possible to mulch the leaves into tiny pieces that can be left on the grass. For some species of trees like oak and maple, this can be very beneficial for your lawn in the springtime.
